Former bachelor, Aaron Buerge, recently filed for bankruptcy but he wants to make sure everyone knows he is not broke! Why then, did he file for bankruptcy? Keep reading to find out what this guy is up too.
After staring in season two of The Bachelor, Aaron Buerge ended things with this fiance Helene Eksterowicz and later married Angye McIntosh. The couple have an 18 month old daughter and while their home life is great, Aaron’s business life is not too good.
According to Aaron who owns his own restaurant in Springfield, MO named Trolley’s Downtown Bar & Grille, the bank that owned the loan on his restaurant shut down and another institution bought it out. That new institution did not want to honor the terms of the original loan, demanding that Aaron pay it off faster and then threatened to come after some personal assets that he had. Is that even legal?
He swears that having to file bankruptcy has no indication on his current financial health, and was just a business decision. “I’m not broke,” he says. “I’m not in financial distress — nothing like that. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be paying everybody.”
According to records Aaron Buerge has $2.3 million dollars in assets and is $9.3 million in debt. He claims that fighting the lawsuit at this time in his life is not worth it. “I’m more focused on my family than on continuing to pay to fight the lawsuit for who-knows-how-long,” he says. “I’m a family guy now. That kind of changes a guy’s priorities in life.”
