It appears that Live To Dance won’t live to dance another day. Sources are reporting that Paula Abdul’s reality show has been cancelled. This cancellation will free her up to reunite with Simon Cowell on his upcoming reality show, X-Factor, as a judge.
Michael Ausiello reports in his TVLine.com blog that multiple sources have confirmed Paula’s Live To Dance has been cancelled, although there is no official word from CBS just yet. While Live to Dance started off strong in its premiere, the ratings have been low and saw only 4.8 million viewers tune into the finale. The numbers are just not strong enough for a major network.
Rumors have been floating around that Paula is joining Simonon X-Factor. Simon Cowell recently said he is a huge fan of Paula’s, to which she replied that Simon is obsessed with her. Could the playful teasing be a sign of things to come? The remaining judging panel for X-Factor will be announced in the next few weeks.
Does the Live To Dancepossible cancellation surprise you? Do you think that Paula will wind up on Simon’s new show? I’m bummed to see the show go, as I enjoyed watching many of the dancers. However, the short format didn’t give the audience enough time to watch the dancers’ story lines develop and follow their journey. After just one week of showing the tryouts, the semi-finals had already started. There were so many talented and diverse dancers and it would have been fun to see more of them.
