Jennifer Hudson pisses off Oprah by being late

American Idol 3 finalist and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson appeared on OWN’s Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes, the fascinating and entertaining series that follows Oprah’s producers as they assemble the show.

But Jennifer’s appearance wasn’t all that happy. That’s because Jennifer rehearsed, and then, without telling producers, left Chicago and flew to Dallas for a private party. When she didn’t arrive the next morning—when the show already had an atypical three episodes to film because of a blizzard in Chicago—the producers learned that she was gone. Worse, because of an ice storm, her plane was delayed by two hours, throwing off the entire day of shooting and making Oprah very, very unhappy.

Oprah was so unhappy that, after apologizing personally to the waiting audience members, she told the reality show crew to stay behind when she went into Jennifer’s dressing room to give her the smack-down after Jennifer finally arrived. Oprah told us later that she said, “I don’t appreciate it. I think that that was not a good decision on your part. But you’ll learn from that.” Oprah said Jennifer told her “‘it will never happen again, and I learned from it.’ Well, you can’t ask any more than that.”

Jennifer seemed embarrassed, in part because Oprah kept bringing it up in passive-aggressive ways. Jennifer told us, “I feel like I’m in a disaster of a nightmare of a dream; this is crazy.”

In a deleted scene, Tim Gunn and Oprah laugh about it and Oprah reminds us, again, “In 25 years, this has never happened.”

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit. However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella. Butter two 8?, 9? or 10? round cake pans, line the bottoms with greaseproof paper, butter again, and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.
