EastEnders actor Steve John Shepherd has claimed that viewers may be surprised by the personality of his character Michael Moon.

The star admitted that many people expect Aflie’s cousin to be a bad boy, but the suave businessman will actually spend a lot of time trying to save the marriage of Alfie (Shane Richie) and Kat (Jessie Wallace).

Tonight’s episode say Kat and Michael lock lips, as they tried to come to terms with the death of their baby son.

Speaking to Inside Soap about what’s ahead for him, Shepherd explained: ”

Alfie tells Michael that he saw him and Kat kissing. Michael is quite shocked and embarrassed about it – but he’s also concerned about the state of Kat and Alfie’s marriage.

“He’s trying to help Alfie through all this and you get to see a whole new side to Michael that you might not have expected.”

On whether there will ever be a future for Michael and Kat, Shepherd replied:

“Michael really enjoys Kat’s company and feels that, if circumstances were different, something might well transpire between them. And although he’d never actively want her and Alfie to split up, the fact that he’s right there on the doorstep can’t be an enormous help to them as far as their marriage is concerned.”

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit.
