American Idol: Jennifer Lopez Turned Down X Factor For Idol

American Idol on FOX‘s only female judge, Jennifer Lopez sure is making headlines lately. Jennifer has released a new album, was recently named most beautiful woman by People Magazine and now the superstar reveals that she actually turned down a chance to be a judge on Simon Cowell’s X Factor so that she could take her Idol gig. American Idol’s recently spoke up about how she turned down the chance to join the judging panel of Simon Cowell’s new show set to air this fall, X Factor to take on her current role as a judge on Idol. Jennifer recently told the Daily Star “We did talk about The X Factor for a little bit. But at the end of the day, thinking about my career and everything that was going on, when the opportunity to do Idol came along it seemed a better fit.” She called Idol an “institution” and hinted that the show has been on for so many years could be the reason she chose to join in.

Jennifer Lopez goes on to say that she is not sure whether or not she will return to Idol next season, she is having a good time as she added “I don’t know if I will do another season. I’m taking it day by day at the moment and we’ll see what happens. I’ve been having a great time, I can’t lie. I’m really enjoying it and having fun and enjoying working with the contestants. You can’t help but learn from them. You’re talking about performing and singing and when you’re watching them you see them and think, ‘I do that’. It’s been a great exchange back and forth.”
