The new season of American Idol on FOX premiered last week with the debut of new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. After week one came to a close, Steven Tyler chatted about the show and how it reminds him of his early Aerosmith days. Keep reading to hear everything Steven had to say!

American Idol on FOX’s newest judge, Steven Tyler recently spoke with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show about the first week as a judge on Idol. Steven compared his new gig to his early Aerosmith days as he told Ryan “This is like the way the band was way back in the beginning. Seeing the magic unfold. This is like something new again.” Then he adds “I’ve never done TV like this. Aerosmith has done videos, but I’ve never done TV and watched back… they’re are so many beautiful moments, it’s pretty trippy.”

From the announcement of his judging seat, many folks have been unsure whether they would love Steven Tyler or hate him as an American Idol judge, but one thing is for sure - Steven Tyler seems to love his new gig. Steven also told Ryan Seacrest that he was “smothered in hot heaping helpings of happiness” in regards to his first week aboard. Personally, I think Steven Tyler did a good job this week - now that is not to say that I did not like Simon Cowell or Paula Abdul, but I definitely think Steven brings something different to the table. How do you think Steve Tyler did during his first week as a new judge? Did you love him or hate him? Comment and share your thoughts with us and then be sure to tune into FOX at 8 pm EST Wednesday for a brand new episode of American Idol!
