Mark Cuban makes Shark Tank even stronger

ABC’s Shark Tank, Mark Burnett’s slicker adaptation of the UK’s Dragon’s Den, returned for a second season last week with a preview on Sunday and new episode Friday night, when the show regularly airs. I’m a fan of the original, but think Burnett’s improved on the UK version in many ways, and Shark Tank has gotten even better in season two.

That’s thanks in part to Mark Cuban, who has made the competition between the sharks—which is often the best part—even more intense. (Jeff Foxworthy will also appear this season, replacing Mark.) Seven years ago, Mark Cuban had his own Apprentice-style show on ABC, The Benefactor, but negotiating and interacting with his fellow sharks and business owners really is his reality TV niche.

For an example of this, here’s a clip that shows his surprising tactics. (If you’ve missed either episode, or have never checked it out, watch the first episode and the second episode online.)

How to make: A fashionable cake

However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella. Courtesy of Apollinas. Ingredients: Directions Heat oven to 350°F. Butter two 8?, 9? or 10? round cake pans, line the bottoms with greaseproof paper, butter again, and dust with flour, tapping out the excess. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.Using an electric mix, beat the butter and sugar on medium-high until fluffy – this will take around 2 to 3 minutes.  Mix in the grated zest of the oranges and lemons.  Beat in the vanilla, then the eggs one at a time.Reduce mixer speed to low.
