Eastenders bosses cut Michael & Alfie Moon’s Elizabeth Taylor quip

Eastenders bosses have decided to cut a comment made about the late Elizabeth Taylor on tonight’s episode.

Last Friday Alfie and Kat were seen considering a split, however this evening Alfie’s cousin Michael will urge them to give their marriage another go and had said:

“You can’t split up. You’re like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.”

Alfie (Shane Richie) the replied:

“Isn’t one of them dead?” – he was referring to Burton, who died of a stroke in 1984.

However after movie legend Liz died of congestive heart failure last Wednesday, bosses have now decided to cut the line and cameras will now jump to Roxy Mitchell joking:

“You’re like salt and vinegar.”

A soap spokeswoman told The Sun that it was “pure coincidence” that Liz’s name was mentioned.

She added: “A decision was taken to edit the scene as it’s so soon after her death.”
