It’s being reported today that just weeks after announcing her split from husband Matthew Smith, Samia Smith – who of course plays Maria Connor – is secretly dating her co-star Will Thorp, who plays bad lad Chris Gray.

Will has also recently had a breakdown in his marriage and he and his wife Samantha agreed to divorce shortly before Christmas.

However, it seems both Samia and Will insist that their relationship has only begun recently, and that they weren’t dating prior to the break up of either of their marriages.

A source told The News Of The World, “They are in love and feel they will be together forever…

“If it lasts fair play to them. But they have only known each other for a short while.

“Now they are spending all their spare time together.’

When Samia and Matthew’s split was announced, a statement issued on their behalf read, “Coronation Street actress Samia Smith and her husband Matthew have today announced that they have decided to separate after five years of marriage.

“This is a mutual decision and there is no one else involved. Samia and Matthew ask that their privacy be respected at this time for the sake of their daughter Freya.”
