Celebrity Apprentice’s Jose Canseco to be Sued for Celebrity Boxing Switch

After allegedly sending his twin brother, Ozzie, to fight in his place during a celebrity boxing match, Celebrity Apprentice star Jose Canseco is being sued for breach of contract by Hollywood Boxing Federation President Damon Feldman. Keep reading for all the details!

“Yes, there is going to be a lawsuit filed,” Feldman’s attorney Bryan Konoski tells Radar Online. “It’s certainly at a minimum going to be  for $6,500. That’s $5,000 for the amount wire transferred under the contract and then an additional $1,500 for travel and things like that and there could be other damages associated with the claim.”

Konoski says that the paperwork is currently being prepared by Damon Feldman’s other attorney, and will be filed within the next 24-48 hours, adding, “Odds are we’ll file in municipal court and they have a $10,000 limit, so the $6,5000 is probably as high as we’ll go.”

Jose Canseco released a statement insisting that Damon Feldman was aware that his twin, Ozzie Canseco, would be showing up to fight instead of Jose, who was “dealing with severe depression regarding (their) father’s death (in early March)” and “had thrown his back out on his way back from Miami, where he laid his father to rest.”

According to documents provided by Feldman, a wire transfer was sent to Jose Canseco’s California address on March 2.

The contract, which was signed by Canseco, states that the former baseball star agreed to “return all monies advanced from ‘Federation,’ if for any reason the boxing event on March 26, 2011 should not take place due to Canseco not appearing.”

Jose Canseco also agreed to attend an after-party for the match, but Hollywood Boxing Federation President Damon Feldman claims that he wouldn’t even leave his dressing room, and instead, sent out his twin, Ozzie, which Feldman considers a “low blow,” adding, “I’m just totally disgusted!”

Still, Jose Canseco refutes those claims, arguing that the agreement was always for his twin, Ozzie Canseco, to fight in his place, and has even challenged Damon Feldman to agree to a lie detector test.

Jose Canseco left Celebrity Apprentice early in the season due to his father’s deteriorating health.

Celebrity Apprentice airs Sundays at 9|8c on NBC.
