You may have been surprised this week to hear that DeAnna Pappas, formerly the star of ABC’s The Bachelorette, is engaged to Stephen Stagliano, but to the couple’s friends and family, the engagement is old news. Despite the fact that it just became public, the pair has actually been keeping the engagement a secret for months! Keep reading for more details on the proposal, the ring, and the double wedding with Stephen’s twin, Michael and his fiancee, Holly Durst…

DeAnna Pappas once looked for love on ABC’s The Bachelorette and in a roundabout way, that’s exactly where she found it. Her engagement to final rose recipient, Jesse Csincsak, back in 2008 was short-lived, but it was the dating franchise that led her to her current beau. Stephen Stagliano’s identical twin brother, Michael, competed on Jillian Harris’ season of The Bachelorette. During a party after the taping of the Men Tell All special, Stephen Stagliano met DeAnna Pappas. On the same night, Michael met Holly Durst, formerly a contestant on The Bachelor, who is now his fiancee. Got all that?

DeAnna Pappas and Stephen Stagliano announced their engagement this week, but the proposal actually took place back in May. “Stephen proposed to me on Memorial day weekend,” DeAnna tweeted this week. “Different day from Michael & Holly. We each had our own wonderful engagement day.” According to DeAnna Pappas, it wasn’t easy to keep the engagement a secret for so long. “You have no idea how hard it was for me [and Stephen] to keep this a secret!” she says. “But, we wanted to enjoy it with our families first.”

Stephen Stagliano popped the question with a 2.12-carat white gold engagement ring with an Asscher-cut center stone in a halo setting. ”I was crying, holding his hands, and he showed me the ring. I just nodded, like, Yeah!” DeAnna says about the engagement. A month later, on June 26th, Michael Stagliano proposed to girlfriend, Holly Durst with a 1.66-carat princess cut ring. Both rings came from King Jewelers in Boston.

The foursome is reportedly planning a double wedding and shopping a reality TV show to networks. DeAnna Pappas says the idea of a double wedding started as a joke. “We used to kid around about having a double wedding,” she says, but they soon realized “this might actually work out, this might be actually be kind of fun. We’re best friends and now we’re going to be sisters,” DeAnna says about her relationship with Holly Durst and the double wedding plans. “It’s going to be work and progress along the way but I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit. However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella.
