Jonathan Ross has admitted that a prior family commitment forced him to turn down an invitation to the wedding of Russell Brand and Katy Perry.
The controversial comedians have become close friends since the ‘Sachsgate’ incident threatened to ruin their careers in 2008 – so it was only natural that Brand invited his mentor to his nuptial ceremony in India in 2010. Unfortunately Jonathan’s eldest daughter was starting university at the same time, so he didn’t make the event
When asked if he attended Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s wedding Jonathan told The Sun’s Buzz magazine:
“I didn’t…But I adore Russell. The one really good thing to have come out of Sachsgate was the closeness Russell and I have as friends. We went through something quite peculiar together and because of that I know he’s always there for me and he knows I’m always there for him…The reason we didn’t go to the wedding was that it was the week that our eldest, Betty, was starting at university. I felt it was more important that I was focused on my first child going to uni. I knew they’d understand – and they did.”
