Ty Pennington is one busy guy. The Extreme Makeover Home Edition design team leader was recently splitting his time between a home makeover being completed for the Dickinson family of Beaufort, South Carolina, and another show project in Florida that was just wrapping up. Read on for details and a sneak peek at the Dickinson family episode…

As many Extreme Makeover Home Edition viewers already know, the design team often have builds on the go in two different locations which overlap. On January 7, the Hurston family of Cocoa, Florida learned they would receive a home makeover.  During that build, on January 10, the Dickinson family of South Carolina were the recipients of a design team door knock as well.

Marine Staff Sergeant Bill Dickinson was deployed to Afghanistan on November 5, but back home, his wife India and their five children are fighting what has been a losing battle to save their home which has mold and damage from flooding.  Simultaneously,  India volunteers with a military support group. The local military came out to help with this build.

Bill has been a member of the military for 17 years, and being currently stationed overseas, had been unable to do anything about the growing list of issues with their home, which not only included mold, but shoddy electrical wiring, an inadequate foundation, fire hazards, and flood-destroyed floors.  Contractors who had surveyed the home recommended that it be bulldozed - and now it has been.

Ty and Extreme Makeover Home Edition design team members Paul DiMeo, Xzibit, and Jillian Harris, along with builder H2 Builders Inc.,  planned to deliver a new home beyond the expectations of the Dickinson family, who enjoyed a vacation at Walt Disney World in Orlando while the project was undertaken.  Watch for the upcoming episode, Heroes at Home, to see the results.
