It’s been reported today that Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross will take to the stage together during this year’s British Comedy Awards.

It will be the first time the controversial comedians will appear together on live TV since the ‘Sachsgate’ incident which saw the pair become hate figures last year.

The Sun reports that the show’s execs are hoping for “fireworks” in order to attract viewers to the show.

A Comedy Awards insider told the paper, “We’re dying for some fireworks for the inaugural event…

“And what better way than by putting Wossy and Russell together live?

“They’ve never really addressed the Sachsgate row together, so we’re hoping they may make a few cheeky references to it on the show.

“We’ll be standing by with the bleeper in case it gets too debauched, but the show is going out after the watershed so we’re not going to turn it into Watch With Mother.”

Ross will of course host the event, which he has done since 1991, with the exception of the 2008 awards when he stepped down following the Sachsgate row.

Brand will apparently be invited to join Ross on stage to either present an award or, “do some impromptu jokes” with him.

The British Comedy Awards airs on Saturday on Channel 4 at 9pm.
