Coronation Street’s Nick Tilsley may have escaped from last week’s explosion and tram crash with only a few scrapes and bruises but the bar owner will come under close scrutiny in upcoming episodes when investigators try to determine how the tragedy occurred.
Nick was seen closing the kitchen of his new bar The Joinery on Monday last week, due to gas problems. However he did not report the issue and it is thought that the ensuing explosion was caused by a leak of some sort.
Actor Ben Price, 38, who plays him, told The Sun:
“He does feel very responsible.
“There are all types of blame as to why there was an explosion and why people died. But it’s his bar.”
Nick witnessed the death of Ashley Peacock in the wreckage. Molly Dobbs also died and Peter Barlow is teetering between life and death after a heart operation.
Ben said: “That’s worse for Nick than being trapped.
“The aftermath really takes its toll on him.” He said seeing young dad Ashley crushed to death will have a huge effect on Nick.
He added: “The tram crash changes Nick’s life and perspective. Viewers will see a different side to him.”
