Back on October 22, the Extreme Makeover Home Edition design team paid a visit to the Lampe family in Louisville, Kentucky. They learned that their home and business would get a makeover courtesy of ABC. The family runs a tree service, but have had to turn away work due to injuries, but in the meantime, have continued to give back to the community by giving teens the opportunity to learn about wrestling. Jeff and Shelley Lampe and their six children had been struggling to keep their business going in light of injuries Jeff sustained on the job. He deals with ongoing pain, and the lack of health insurance, as he powers through each day facing rough terrains and dangerous heights.  In spite of their difficulties, the Lampes have continued to give local teens the chance to learn more about wrestling.  The Extreme Makeover Home Edition team came to help in late October.

The Lampe family loves wrestling, and loves playing in the wilderness via nature expeditions, rope swings, and fishing. They’ve converted their garage into a makeshift wrestling gym, and use the space to mentor kids, help give them direction, and teach them about the sport.

Unfortunately, their house is in serious disrepair with water and mold issues, and the family is outgrowing their space. The youngest daughter has Down’s Syndrome, and needs a safe place to play as well.

While Extreme Makeover Home Edition delivered the ’smackdown’ to their old house and built the new one, the Lampe family vacationed in Orlando, Florida at Walt Disney World.  The designers on the project were Ty Pennington, Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis, and Ed Sanders, who joined Elite Homes in creating the new house.  No word yet on the date the episode will air, but take a look at the Gaston Family Sneak Peek for this coming Sunday!
