Eastenders love cheat, manic depressive and murderess, poor old Stacey Slater has had drama-packed six years and is set to finally leave the BBC soap in an explosive storyline.
In this Sunday’s edition of Fabulous magazine, actress Lacey Turner admits that she always said she would leave the show when Charlie Clements (who played her on screen husband Bradley Branning) departed. His character died in the live episode earlier this year, so now it’s time for Stacey to follow suit.
The bubbly brunette said:
“Charlie and I always said we’d go at the same time… For quite a while I’d been saying I was going to go and kept realising I wasn’t ready. But when Charlie said he was going last year I was like ‘Right, OK, I’m going too.’”
On the storyline that will lead to her departure, Lacey added:
“The whole thing hints at everything she’s been through in the last 6 years and it all comes together … I’m really happy with the way it’s all worked out.”
The 22 year old star joined Eastenders in 2004, after she originally auditioned for the role of Demi Miller (remember her? No we don’t either!). She admits that playing Stacey has opened her eyes and confessed that, at times, she would like to me more like her alter-ego.
“I’d like to be more like Stacey in some ways,” Lacey confessed.
“She’s so forward and says what she wants to say when she wants to say it. I’d love to be able to be more like that, but I just don’t have the guts.”
