Doctor Who: Karen Gillan enjoys working with ‘focused’ Matt Smith

Karen Gillan has admitted that she has never worked with anyone like her Doctor Who co-star Matt Smith.

The red haired beauty, best known as Amy Pond on the BBC sci-fi show, told Shortlist that Smith takes his role ‘very seriously’ and ‘never slacks off.’

“I’ve never met someone so focused and he never slacks off,” she explained.

“His approach to acting is really creative. Rather than just reeling off the lines, he changes it every time.”

“He takes it very seriously, but that’s not to say it’s not fun,” she added.

“In fact, part of our taking it seriously is messing around… because I feel like it’s us staying in character and being silly.”
