Coronation Street: Bill Roache promises exciting anniversary episodes!

December 6th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry. No comments

Coronation Street’s tram crash disaster won’t be an “anti-climax” for viewers.

Actor Bill Roache – who has played Ken Barlow in the ITV1 soap since it first launched in 1960 – explained the repercussions of the explosive scenes will reverberate around the cobbles for a very long time.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “The event doesn’t dominate – you’ve got all these stories leading up to this big event, which then catalyses the soap and will be ongoing for a very long time. There are about five or six little stories all leading to the point of the explosion.

“I promise there won’t be an anti-climax as the stories will go on and on. The repercussions will reverberate for a very long time. Forever in some circumstances.”

The veteran star also admitted he feels angry for his ‘Coronation Street’ alter-ego, who is faced with the difficult prospect of having to tell his son Peter (Chris Gascoyne) that his fiancee Leanne (Jane Danson) has been cheating on him with former flame Nick (Ben Price).

However, there could be a surprise in store for Ken on Thursday night’s (09.12.10) live episode.

Bill explained: “It is a terrible dilemma Ken is faced with. I’m angry for him! He has to think about it and it’s a tough one, so let’s see how it all works out in the aftermath.

“There’s still a surprise for us lurking in the live episode, they’ve put out various scripts and we all know there’s something we haven’t been told yet. That is quite exciting indeed!

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit. However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella. Butter two 8?, 9? or 10? round cake pans, line the bottoms with greaseproof paper, butter again, and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.
