David Archuleta of American Idol has a new album out, and he’ll be performing some of his songs from The Other Side of Down in Las Vegas as part of FOX’s New Year’s Eve Live!

“Having a new album out has been really great. I’m enjoying performing again and it’s nice to get to play new songs,” said Archuleta, who has been a part of many holiday concerts around the country. “It’s been amazing getting to see many of my fans.”

And on December 31st, David will have the chance to see even more of his fans, as he and multi-platinum recording artist, Travie McCoy perform at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino for FOX’s New Year’s Eve Live celebration.

“I’ll be performing a couple of new songs from The Other Side of Down,” Archuleta hinted. “They are up-tempo songs because we want to keep it fun on New Year’s Eve.”

This is a big difference compared to how David Archuleta used to spend his New Year’s Eves.

“We’d watch the fireworks and New Year’s celebrations on TV–nothing too intense. It’s surreal and funny to be on the other side of it now. You watch these shows as part of your tradition, and it’s going to be really cool to be a part of someone else’s now.”

But his first New Year’s Eve performance isn’t the only thing David’s celebrating. On December 28th, he turns 20! What does the American Idol alum have planned?

“I will be spending Christmas with my family, and on my birthday I’m going to be working! I’m sure I’ll have some time to do something fun. I have a show in California on December 29th, so I will spend most of my birthday rehearsing and participating in interviews. I’ll still have fun though!”

The new season of American Idol premieres January 19th on FOX.
