After the cast of ABC’s Skating With The Stars was announced, the web went wild with reports that former cast mate and BFF of Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City was originally asked to do the show, but passed on the opportunity. It’s just not a reality show without drama, and ABC’s Skating With The Stars is certainly not an exception to the rule. Just days after the cast of the spin-off reality series was announced, rumors began circulating about the fact that Bethenny Frankel was going to be on the show, and not Jill Zarin, who once donned a fancy ice-skating outfit and skated (and subsequently fell) on an episode of The Real Housewives of New York City.

According to some websites, Zarin was originally asked to do the show, but declined the offer, which led to Bethenny’s casting. But in light of these rumors, casting director of SWTS, Deena Katz, has come forward about the false reports. “That’s the part I don’t like,” says Katz. “You weren’t asked, so don’t act like you were.”

Katz goes on to explain why Frankel was approached for the show, saying, “She is it. If you’re going to go with a Housewife Bethenny has transcended all the other housewives. She has her own show [Bethenny Getting Married?]. She is her own person. She’s really athletic, she’s charming, she’s ballsy, she’s great.” Katz adds, “On the record, I have never asked another Housewife. Bethenny is the only one I asked.”
