On Veteran's Day, the stories of soldiers with PTSD from James Gandolfini

Today is Veterans Day, and to commemorate that, HBO debuts a documentary about veterans, Wartorn: 1861-2010, and it focuses on the effects of war, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, on the people who’ve fought for us over the past two centuries. The film, directed by Jon Alpert and Ellen Gooseberg Kent, is executive produced by James Gandolfini, the actor best known for playing the lead role in The Sopranos. He previously interviewed wounded Iraq war vets for a 2007 HBO documentary.

HBO says Wartorn, which debuts at 9 p.m. ET, tells the “personal stories of American soldiers whose lives and psyches were torn asunder by the horrors of battle and PTSD” and examines “the lingering effects of combat stress and post-traumatic stress on military personnel and their families throughout American history, from the Civil War through today’s conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
