Kandi Burruss Proud Of Record Ratings For Kandi’s Wedding

« Kenya Moore Responds To Apollo Nida’s Prison Sentence | Home | Kim Kardashian Flaunts Cleavage At The Valentino Haute Couture Show » July 10, 2014 07:00 AM by Stephanie Gustafson As of last year, the Facebook community assumed that it would be completely impossible to top the impressive ratings garnered by NeNe Leakes’ wedding spin-off. But another Real Housewives Of Atlanta star appears to have accomplished the impossible: Kandi Burruss! With Mama Joyce on board, it was pretty much a guarantee that Kandi’s Wedding would attract an impressive audience. After all, the reality mom has proven incredibly popular on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. But nobody could have predicted that Kandi’s Wedding would so easily beat out last year’s I Dream Of NeNe. The ratings results are in, and as Kandi Burruss was happy to point out via social media, her spin-off easily topped all of the other Real Housewives wedding shows. The series amassed nearly three million viewers, which, based on a Br...

Big Brother makes smart changes; its players do dumb things

In its first Sunday episode, Big Brother 16 revealed several minor but smart changes that improved the show. Its players are freaking out over floaters, becoming paranoid, forming and abandoning alliances, which is bad for their games but decent entertainment, the kind we expect from this show but didn’t get much of last year. The most significant change: The tedious key-draw ceremony, utilizing the table’s turntable, has been eliminated in favor of an immediate reveal of the HOH’s decision. They turn a key; the nominee’s face appears on a screen. Besides cutting down on the time that the whole thing takes, this is far a more dramatic reveal, because there isn’t dwindling suspense as to who might be chosen. Unfortunately, the first two HOHs used their power lamely—or at least, their reasons were lame. Few HOHs have ever given good rationale for their decisions, but nominating the first four people to have fallen during the challenge is just weak. It’s not like that challenge affected...

Brandi Glanville Talks Parenting And Dating

« Vicki Gunvalson’s Daughter Welcomes A Second Child | Home July 09, 2014 12:00 PM by Lisa Princ Brandi Glanville is usually dishing up some sort of drama on Twitter or on The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills , but when she’s not causing trouble, Brandi is also a single mother of two sons. And in a new interview, Glanville talks parenting and…dating? That’s right, read all about it inside. Facebook fans often wonder if Brandi Glanville is constantly stirring up drama, even off of the set of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills , but it doesn’t seem likely as she has to be a mother as well. And being a mom is something that Glanville takes very seriously – when she’s not bashing her son, that is. In fact, in a new interview with In Touch Magazine, Glanville opened up about her parenting, claiming: “The biggest lesson I hope to teach my kids a little humbleness and appreciation.” However, Glanville says it scares her because her children are spoiled. And while she didn’t come right out ...

Big Brother's changes bring back the familiar

Big Brother 16 is that it is pretty much exactly the same show. It’s in HD, there will be two HOHs, there’s a new “Team America” twist, but for better or for worse, those don’t seem new at all, just variations on old themes, with no sign that the show will stop grinding along on the same well-worn path it has been for years. The welcome change to HD felt completely normal but simultaneously disorienting; the new house design is bright and clean and pops, though several camera angles were oddly blurry. In the hour of mostly filler, the houseguests learned that there’d be a second group of eight who’d have their own HOH, only one of whom would be safe. They created an alliance immediately, calling it Crazy Eight, or perhaps spelling it like the Breaking Bad character Krazy 8, in order to foreshadow the fate of their alliance. There’s also a fledgling women’s alliance that I want to believe will be successful. Julie Chen explained to viewers that “Team America” is “a secret three-person...

Jillian Michaels leaving Biggest Loser for a third time

Original Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels has left the show, marking her third exit. NBC said only in a statement that “The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels have decided to part ways and she will not be returning for season 16 when it airs in the fall.” While there was no reason given for her exit, told Us Weekly last month, “The problem with Biggest Loser is that it’s become such a cartoon of me and it’s also—you maybe see what I’ve done in 10 days, you maybe see 5 minutes of it. And of course, the 5 minutes that they’re going to show is going to be the most sort of crazy, off the wall 5 minutes.” Earlier, after season 15 winner Rachel Fredrickson lost a frightening amount of weight, Jillian and Bob said they were “not comfortable commenting.” Jillian previously quit in 2010 to have a child, and after season three because of the editing. Reality shows you should check out in July

Yes, summer has its reality series: the big ones are Big Brother and America’s Got Talent , and there are also shows such as American Ninja Warrior and The Bachelorette . But a bunch of new and returning shows, most on cable, are (or appear) worthy of sampling. We haven’t had a breakout hit this summer like last year’s terrific Naked and Afraid , but perhaps in this batch there will be such a show. Here are preview of the shows I think are worthy of checking out; all summer debuts are on the summer schedule. The Quest , ABC, July 31, Thursdays at 8. The first preview I saw of this both intrigued me and made me laugh dismissively. The queen/host/whatever was so comically bad when she talks about “Everrealm” that I thought it was a spoof. Also, my confidence in Betram Van Munster and Elise Doganieri creating a new genre of reality competition is sadly low, because he hasn’t exacty reinvented or improved The Amazing Race in recent years. In a behind the scenes preview, which looks mor...

Emmy reality TV nominations: predictably lazy but with new categories

For the second year in a row, the Emmy nominations for reality TV’s major categories remain nearly unchanged, though two new categories have offered some new entrants—and new reasons to wonder why voters make the decisions they do. There were 57 people eligible for a reality show host nomination, yet we ended up with basically the same people who were nominated last year. Last year’s nominees for reality show host dropped Phil Keoghan in favor of Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, while this year’s replaces Ryan Seacrest with Jane Lynch, who hosts NBC’s fun Hollywood Game Night . Yet once again, Betty White has been nominated for NBC’s now-cancelled Off Their Rockers, which only makes sense as a vote for her, not her work on the show, which is not worthy of recognition. Ditto Anthony Bourdain’s nomination as alleged host of The Taste . The nominations are disappointing in that tedious and boring So You Think You Can Dance was again nominated while increasingly exceptional Survivor was ignored...
